Kid Cudi recently opened up
about the most meaningful relationship in his life—one that involves more than
music, fame, or stage lights. In a deeply heartfelt conversation with People, he revealed how a simple text from his
15-year-old daughter, Vada, nearly brought him to tears.
Sharing
a clip from his CBS Mornings interview,
Cudi received a message from Vada saying, “You’re
the best dad ever.” Hearing those words, he told the outlet, "I
was so weak. I almost cried.” That admission captured just how powerful
fatherhood—and honest connection—can be.
Defying
Doubt and Embracing Connection
Cudi
admitted he once worried that not being with Vada full-time would hinder their
bond because their time together was often limited. Instead, he discovered that
even with physical distance, love and trust could flourish. “That was one of
the first things I thought that was really the wrong way to think about
things,” he reflected. "Of course, my daughter is going to want to have a
relationship with me... and our relationship is going to be cool."
Now,
their connection is deeper than he ever imagined. Cudi refers to her as his
"best friend, my homie, my ride or die," sharing moments that range
from horror movies and video games to impromptu fashion raids on his closet.
That patrol of Pop culture and creativity binds them tightly.
From
Fear to Gift
The
bond Cudi celebrates isn’t just happenstance—it’s a conscious embrace of
fatherhood post-fame. Now 41 and navigating life as a husband and newlywed,
Cudi describes his role as a dad as “the best feeling.” He credits moments like
a synced father-daughter dance at his wedding and shared references across
interviews as evidence they’re truly “on the same frequency.”
His memoir, Cudi: The Memoir, alongside his album Free, traces this journey from a young artist battling fear and addiction to a grounded father and loving creative. It’s his message to fans: healing is possible, connection is worth the risk, and love always finds a way.
