The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has firmly dismissed recent speculation claiming that Mohammad Rizwan and Shan Masood are facing removal from their leadership roles. In a post on social media platform X, the board outlined that no discussions or proposals regarding a change in ODI or Test captaincy have taken place.
Leadership Roles Secure
Contrary to viral chatter, the PCB confirmed that Rizwan remains the ODI captain, and Shan Masood continues as Test captain. The board made it clear that neither Salman Ali Agha nor Saud Shakeel are in the running for those roles. Furthermore, no alterations have been made to any player’s central contract categories.
The information comes as reassurance to fans concerned by rumors that emerged following Pakistan’s disappointing recent form and lineup changes. The governing body’s swift clarification helps maintain continuity during a pivotal phase for national cricket.
Focus Shifts to On-Field Goals
With captaincy settled, Pakistan’s attention now turns to a packed upcoming schedule. Cricket fans await the Tri-Nation T20I Series in Sharjah, spanning August 29 to September 7, featuring Afghanistan and UAE, followed by the Asia Cup 2025 starting on September 9.
